Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
General Questions
Q1: What does NLC India Limited do? NLC India Limited (formerly Neyveli Lignite Corporation) is a Navratna Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Coal, Government of India. It operates in lignite mining, thermal power generation, renewable energy, and allied sectors.
Q2: What is Fixed Term Employment (FTE)? FTE is a contract-based employment for a fixed period (2 years in this case). You receive all statutory benefits like PF and Gratuity, but the employment is not permanent. Either party can terminate with one month’s notice.
Q3: Will this job become permanent after 2 years? Not automatically. The engagement is specifically for 2 years. Extension or conversion to permanent employment is at the discretion of NLC management based on organizational requirements and performance.
Q4: What is a Navratna company? Navratna (“Nine Jewels”) is a special status given by the Government of India to high-performing Public Sector Enterprises. It provides enhanced autonomy and benefits. Only 17 PSUs currently hold this status.
Q5: Can private sector candidates apply? Yes, absolutely. The requirement is aviation industry experience (10 years total, 5 years specialized). This experience can be from private airlines, private airports, or government organizations.
Eligibility Questions
Q6: I have a B.Com degree with Mathematics. Am I eligible? Yes, if your B.Com degree was for minimum 3 years duration and Mathematics was one of the subjects you studied, you are eligible from the educational qualification perspective.
Q7: My degree is from distance education. Is it acceptable? Part-time degrees are acceptable, but the course duration must be minimum 3 years. Check if your university/institute is recognized by UGC/AICTE/appropriate statutory authority.
Q8: I have 10 years experience but only 4 years in airport operations. Can I still apply? No. The notification clearly requires minimum 5 years of CONTINUOUS experience in Airport Operations OR Air Traffic Services OR DGCA Licensing work. 4 years does not meet this requirement.
Q9: I’m currently 61 years old. By the time I join, I’ll be 62. Am I eligible? Age is calculated as on December 1, 2025 (the crucial date). If you were 61 or below on that date, you are eligible, regardless of your age at joining.
Q10: What is meant by “E6 grade or above” in experience requirement? E6 is the grade classification in government/PSU organizations (typically Joint General Manager level). If you’ve worked in private sector, equivalent positions at senior management level would qualify. The key is to demonstrate comparable seniority and responsibility.
Q11: I’m an ex-Air Force officer (Flight Lieutenant). Am I eligible for the grade requirement? Yes, Flight Lieutenant is a Commissioned Officer rank. All commissioned officers (from Flying Officer to Air Marshal in Air Force, and equivalents in Army/Navy) meet this criterion.
Q12: Can OBC candidates apply for this UR post? Yes, candidates from any category (OBC/SC/ST) can apply for UR posts. However, age relaxation is not applicable since this is not a reserved post.
Application Process Questions
Q13: Can I apply offline by sending documents by post? No. This recruitment is exclusively online. No postal or hand-delivered applications will be accepted under any circumstances.
Q14: I made a mistake in my application after submission. Can I edit it? No. Once submitted, applications cannot be edited. This is why it’s crucial to review everything carefully before final submission. The only option is to abandon that application and register fresh if still within the deadline (though this is not recommended).
Q15: I accidentally registered twice with different email IDs. What happens? The system should ideally prevent multiple registrations. If both went through, only the LAST registered and submitted application will be considered. Earlier applications will be automatically rejected.
Q16: Can I upload documents after fee payment? No. The sequence is: Registration → Fill Form → Upload Documents → Pay Fee → Final Submit. You cannot access the portal for document upload after final submission.
Q17: I paid the fee but forgot to submit the application. Will I get a refund? Unfortunately, no. Application fees are non-ref
